Strengthening Community Life in Questa
Locally designed homes, a community focused food system, and responsible resource use for the people of Northern New Mexico.
We are building more than housing. Tiratera is a long term initiative designed to support local families, strengthen the regional economy, and create a practical and resilient model rooted in the community.
A locally rooted housing initiative for the Questa community
The Vision
Across Northern New Mexico, communities like Questa are facing increasing pressure. Housing is becoming less accessible, local workers are being pushed out, and economic opportunities remain limited.
Tiratera was created with a simple objective: development should serve the people who already live here.
We are not building for speculation. We are building for the community.
How it works
Tiratera is built around two core systems supported by responsible resource use.
Housing: Affordable homes designed locally and built with regional partners, focusing on simplicity, durability, and cost efficiency.
Local Food System: A small scale, controlled environment food production system designed to improve access to fresh and reliable food locally.
Energy: A solar installation supports the energy needs of the food production system and contributes to overall efficiency.
Water Responsibility: Water is treated as a shared and limited resource. The project prioritizes efficiency, rainwater capture, and responsible use, while relying on the village network as a secure backup.
Why it matters
In Northern New Mexico, access to affordable housing and fresh food remains a challenge throughout the year.
